DSP Characterization Engineer

Mountain View, CA
About us:
Aeva is building the next generation of sensing and perception for autonomous vehicles and beyond. With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long-range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass-market applications.

Role Overview:
We are looking for a DSP engineer with a focus on characterizing the performance of signal processing algorithms in production as well as simulation platforms.

What you'll do:

  • Design and develop test frameworks for characterizing performance of DSP algorithms and help bridge performance gap between simulation platforms and real systems
  • Understand DSP algorithms running on the system and design stress tests to validate the design and implementation
  • Be involved in all stages of algorithm development including data collection, analysis, development and test
  • Participate in the team's development processes, including: requirements and design documentation, test-plan generation and execution, peer design and code reviews, process feedback and improvements

What you'll have:

  • 3+ years of experience in Python development and working on signal processing algorithms for different applications
  • Good fundamentals in signal processing, probability theory, mathematics and excellent problem solving skills
  • Bachelor degree with 2+ years of industry experience working on signal processing applications or a masters degree with a focus on signal processing or communication systems
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis and simulation software (Matlab preferred)
  • Willingness to learn, ability to communicate well and demonstrate healthy drive and energy to understand and solve complex system level problems

  • Experience working on hardware systems to characterize performance
  • Knowledge of advanced signal processing algorithms for radar/lidar/communication systems
  • Experience working on point cloud processing and filtering

What's in it for you:

  • Be part of a fast paced and dynamic team
  • Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
  • Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
  • Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
