Role Overview:
Aeva is seeking to hire an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our growing team! This individual will be responsible for qualification and reliability modeling for Aeva’s LiDAR systems. They will be a key member in design reviews and provide guidance to internal teams, suppliers, and CMs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Execute product qualification requirements, develop product lifetime reliability models, analyze and report on qualification testing data 
  • Develop accelerated test methods to explore failure modes and grow reliability
  • Create Fault Trees and reliability block diagrams to assess system reliability
  • Provide design recommendations to improve product reliability 
  • Actively participate in product design reviews to ensure all key reliability metrics are met
  • Support Ongoing Reliability Monitoring (ORT) activities
  • Experience with ReliaSoft Synthesis Platform, including Weibull++, BlockSim, ALTA, RGA, and xFMEA
  • Knowledge of reliability warranty analysis and reliability prediction methods
  • Working knowledge of applied statistics and experience with statistical software such as JMP
  • Reviews Engineering Change Requests for their impact on Quality and Reliability 
  • Provide guidance to internal team and interface with suppliers and contract manufacturers regarding reliability testing requirements and analysis

What you have:

  • Experience designing mechanical, operational, and environmental stress tests
  • Experience with optics, optical and opto-mechanical systems and components
  • Experience performing reliability testing including Mechanical Stress Tests, Shock/Drop/Vibration Testing, and Environmental Testing 
  • Strong knowledge of Reliability Concepts
  • Experience applying DOE, DFMEA, and PFMEA to drive test planning
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools including ReliaSoft Weibull++, JMP, and/or Excel for designing tests and experiments, analyzing results, and performing field risk assessments (NPI and sustaining)
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at the same time with proven success in meeting deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Automotive standards a plus
  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer preferred
