What You’ll Be Doing:
- Automotive Reliability & Qualification (≈50%)
- Own automotive reliability and qualification strategy for LiDAR systems and critical sub-assemblies.
- Define and execute DV/PV test plans aligned with ISO 16750 (environmental & electrical loads), IEC 60068, OEM-specific durability requirements
- Lead environmental and life testing including thermal cycling and thermal shock, vibration and mechanical shock, HTOL / HTOE, damp heat, humidity, corrosion, contamination exposure
- Drive single-fault robustness validation in support of DFMEA and safety concepts.
- Perform and lead failure analysis, working cross-functionally with EE, ME, optics, firmware, and systems teams.
- Define pass/fail criteria, degradation limits, and design margins, not just “run the test.”
- Ensure test coverage maps clearly to DFMEA failure modes and OEM expectations.
- EMC & Electrical Validation (≈50%)
- Own automotive EMC compliance and robustness testing, including CISPR 25 (emissions & immunity), ISO 11452 (ALSE, BCI, TEM), ISO 7637 (transients), ISO 10605 (ESD), IEC 61000-6-X
- Define EMC test modes and operating states aligned with real vehicle use cases.
- Lead pre-compliance testing and debug, partnering closely with EE and layout teams.
- Drive EMC mitigation strategy - filtering, grounding, shielding, harnessing, and layout guidance
- Plan, lead, and technically represent Aeva at third-party EMC test labs.
- Support OEM EMC reviews, audits, and issue resolution.
- Program & Cross-Functional Ownership
- Act as the automotive validation point person for assigned LiDAR programs.
- Interface directly with OEM customers, Tier-1s, Third-party test houses
- Ensure traceability between Requirements → Test plans → Test results → FMEA closure
- Identify validation gaps early and push for design or test strategy changes before late-stage surprises.
What You Have:
- BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
- 5+ years of automotive hardware validation experience
- Demonstrated ownership of DV/PV or qualification testing for automotive electronics
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 16750, CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637
- Experience supporting OEM technical reviews or audits
- Comfortable challenging designs based on test data and automotive risk
- Strong documentation skills (test plans, reports, customer-facing data)
- Experience with ADAS sensors (LiDAR, radar, camera) or other safety-relevant ECUs
- Prior experience at an OEM or Tier-1 automotive supplier
- Familiarity with DFMEA, single-fault assumptions, and robustness validation
- Experience coordinating multiple test labs across DV/PV phases
