Role Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for day-to-day cost accounting activities in accordance with Aeva's established policies and procedures. This individual will be responsible for overall cost accounting functions, including audit and compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. Responsibilities require in-depth knowledge in cost accounting, manufacturing processes, GAAP, and NetSuite best practices. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintain and expand the cost accounting process 
  • Implement and maintain costs for materials of our products; recommends updates as needed
  • Review purchases of all inventories, including Aeva’s consigned inventory and monitor variances
  • Reconciles beginning raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished-goods inventory, and identifies and researches unusual fluctuations and variances
  • Analyzes inventory counts and related valuations, and investigate discrepancies
  • Construct and maintain a cost accounting system and cost ledger in a manner that costs can be traced to source documents, purchase orders, and underlying activities
  • Perform month-end cost accounting close, including recording of journal entries needed to ensure accuracy of inventory balances, cost of goods sold, and related gross margins
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs, prepare periodic reports, compare system costs to actual production costs and maintain data integrity
  • Prepare inventory and warranty reserve analysis and work with other departments for inputsPrepare various cost accounting reports for presentation to management
  • Interface with external auditors and assist in quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Participate in other accounting and/or management projects as necessary

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with a CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in high tech manufacturing industry preferred
  • Strong GAAP accounting and analytical skills
  • Experience with major ERP software and SAP highly preferred
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient computer user with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
