Aeva is building the next generation of sensing and perception for autonomous vehicles and beyond. With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long-range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass-market applications.

Role Overview:
Manage a talented team of design validation, reliability and failure analysis engineers responsible for establishing test plans and executing test flows for components and 4D LiDAR systems that meet or exceed the ASIC, component, and system level requirements for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.

What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for overseeing design validation and reliability testing of our 4D LiDAR system
  • Responsible for overseeing the qualification of components including analog/mixed signal, silicon photonics, discrete and passive components with time sensitive schedule requirements
  • Interface with internal (SoC design, photonics design, mechanical, etc.) and external (customer, suppliers) teams to ensure reliability requirements are understood and expectations are met
  • Perform wearout reliability assessments and provide reliability aging guidelines and Design for Reliability guidance to design teams for next generation products
  • Oversee the analysis of failures and the identification of failure modes at both die, subassembly and final assembly levels
  • Work with customers to understand their reliability requirements and convert this into actionable test plans

What you have:

  • Deep understanding of FinFET and silicon photonics process technologies, reliability physics, and acceleration models
  • Familiar with wearout failure mechanisms (TDDB, BTI, HCI, EM, SM) and models, wafer level reliability tests, test structures, and industry standards (JEDEC, AEC)
  • Experience developing accelerated life and HALT test plans to evaluate the robustness of electrical and mechanical components
  • Extensive experience in the application of reliability methods including DFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), System Reliability Modeling, Markov Modeling, Monte Carlo Analysis, Weibull and other reliability Distribution Modeling
  • Hands on skills in reliability data analysis, particularly using statistical tools such as JMP
  • Proficient in lifetime calculations at various mission profiles
  • PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related major (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of overall experience in semiconductor reliability and 5+ years of managing a team
  • Can-do attitude with a zeal to solve complex problems in a cross-functional product development environment

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of reliability of silicon photonics
  • Prior Experience with solving laser quality issues in a QRE/Product Engineering role
